OUR HISTORY

OMI Motors was born to resolve real-world product challenges using radical design and manufacturing philosophies. The company was established in 1998 under the name Optimas Manufacturing Inc. and focused on combining western design and quality standards with affordable and scalable manufacturing capabilities from east Asia. As an American company doing business in Asia, Optimas Manufacturing unlocked a vast manufacturing network to American and European companies looking to establish offshore capacity. While originally the types of products served broad markets including oilfield, motors, precision vales, and contract assembly, over time the company built deep expertise designing and manufacturing custom electric motors and mechatronic systems for well known brands such as Harley-Davidson, Polaris, and Arctic Cat.

The company is now known as OMI Motors, and is recognized as an innovator in electric and mechatronic technologies, but the spirit of delivering radical solutions to tough product challenges hasn’t changed. In addition to custom and specialized motors, OMI now uses that same philosophy to build products and technologies for electric and hybrid vehicles including new Lithium-Ion battery chemistry, battery cell and pack design, battery management systems, EV traction motors, power electronics, and vehicle operating systems. OMI Motors proudly has R&D and operations across the globe including in the US, Mexico, and south and east Asia.
